For eight months Sarina Russo Apprenticeships Industry Consultant Ben Watts was part of the Hands on Trades Career Expo in Winton, Victoria. It all started when a local employer believed kids weren’t getting the valuable hands on experience to become successful tradespeople. Work experience needed to be more engaging and more females and people with a disability needed be encouraged to become apprentices.
Indigenous clients from all over Western Melbourne attended a casual Morning Tea to learn about the employment, training and personal support available to them through the Sarina Russo Group.
Melton Manager Marlene Cassar welcomed everyone and introduced Indigenous Mentor, Daliah Parker, to give the Acknowledgement of Country and speak about her background and her deep passion for mentoring Indigenous Australians.
